Keynote – Accelerating progress towards the SDGs: insights from the Global SDG Synthesis Coalition

Key messages:

• There will be no sustainable development without solving the climate crisis, and solving the climate crises will only be successful if broader planetary boundaries are respected and wider development goals are met.
• The Global SDG Synthesis Coalition is one of the most ambitious attempts to inform an international process with rigorous evidence. It provides a complementary approach to other UN science assessments by IPCC or IPBES that has a huge potential for cross-fertilization.
• Thinking about new ways of how the SDG Synthesis Coalition can engage the wider scientific community as well as other UN science assessments might provide opportunities to lift global environmental assessments as well as evidence synthesis to the next level.
